Practical guide

ASIN vs SKU

Distinguish Amazon's catalog identifier from a seller-managed SKU before using the lookup.

Practical details

Distinguish Amazon's catalog identifier from a seller-managed SKU before using the lookup.

An ASIN identifies an Amazon catalog item, while a seller SKU is merchant-defined inventory data. ASINtoJSON accepts an ASIN or supported product URL and does not look up seller SKUs.

ASINtoJSON handles one product at a time. It does not provide bulk lookup, a public developer API, review text, live price or inventory, historical monitoring, sales estimates, or a complete variation graph.

Use this page

  1. Check whether the identifier came from Amazon's catalog or a seller inventory system.
  2. Use only the ten-character ASIN or a supported product URL.
  3. Keep seller SKUs in the seller system; they are not lookup input here.

Field and freshness notes

  • Results can be cached and are not guaranteed to be real-time.
  • Unavailable source fields are shown as not provided; currency identifies the marketplace currency and is not a price quote.

Frequently asked questions

Does ASIN vs SKU start a live lookup?

Using the form starts one single-product lookup, except the URL-to-ASIN parser, which runs locally without fetching product data.

Are results real-time?

Not necessarily. Successful results may be served from cache, and the displayed fetched time identifies when the product data was collected.
